SteamPulp a game by Fiendish Fabrications

Greetings Folks,

Welcome to the SteamPulp Blogiscope. Here you will find informative information vis-à-vis the impending publication of our game of miniature adventure: SteamPulp.

But what is SteamPulp I hear you ask?

SteamPulp is a skirmish level miniatures game with a roleplaying element. It's set in a non-specific Victorianesque science fiction era of steam, gears, iron and brass. It also features unhealthy dollops of gadgets, airships, weird science, goggles, more gadgets, heroes, villains (with gadgets), canes, pocket watches, bowler hats, top hats, contraptions of all sorts some of which could even be described as gadgets!

The phrase: “a skirmish level miniatures game with a roleplaying element” means that the game is played in short scenarios which make up parts of a greater story line. This story line is designed and controlled by a Narrator who acts much like a game-master. However, instead of the players pitting themselves against the game-master they contest against each other. But that’s not to say the narrator can’t throw the occasional mob of voodoo zombies or a giant robot killer ants in the way every now and then.

Each player controls one main protagonist and a crew of hardy adventurers. Along with their protagonist crews will also include several “permanent” members as well as hirelings. Hirelings can change from game to game depending on the scenario. For instance you may need some hirelings to man an airship or you may need some extra bodies for a trek through the jungle (or if your character is of a villainous bent you may need some hired goons).

Well, one last thing for the moment… SteamPulp is not all about fighting and conquering your opponent. No, no, no… It’s about adventure. Sure you may need to shoot a few folks now and then or send them to the bottom of the ocean as shark bait but a good narrator can lead a game into other areas more reminiscent of the Victorian Era. Think of an airship race across strange lands or two rivals in search for a hidden treasure (with an unknown third party making a dangerous task even more dangerous!).
